Of the new cases, 141 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 1,035 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health. Among the PCR cases, 135 were local transmissions and six were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 968 local transmissions and 67 imported cases.

Among the ART-confirmed cases with mild symptoms and assessed low risk, there were 1,665 local transmissions and 145 imported cases.

A total of 245 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 11 cases in intensive care units. One death was reported from COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total death toll to 1,593, the ministry said.

Singapore reported 2,900 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total tally to 1,837,090.

Of the new cases, 275 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,625 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health. Among the PCR cases, 257 were local transmissions and 18 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 2,434 local transmissions and 191 imported cases.

A total of 286 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 10 cases in intensive care units. One more death was reported from COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total death toll to 1,592, the ministry said.


Mask optional except on public transport and in healthcare facilities

From Monday (Aug 29), people in Singapore will not be required to wear a mask except on public transport and in healthcare facilities, announced Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Wednesday (Aug 24).

Masks will still have to be worn on transport modes such as the MRT, LRT and public buses, as well as in indoor public transport facilities like boarding areas at bus interchanges and MRT platforms, said Mr Wong, speaking at a press conference held by the COVID-19 multi-ministry task force.

But they will not be required at airports, naturally ventilated bus interchanges and in the retail areas of bus interchanges, MRT and LRT stations. Masks will be optional on private transport modes such as taxis, school buses and private bus services, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a separate press release on Wednesday. 


Singapore to lower Dorscon level from orange to yellow from April 26

Singapore reported 1,410 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally to 1,834,190.

Of the new cases, 198 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 1,212 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health. Among the PCR cases, 180 were local transmissions and 18 were imported cases.
