Customer discovers cockroach in tea purchased from Bedok 85 drink stall

No one wants to see a cockroach anywhere near their food or drink.

Unfortunately for one customer at Bedok 85 Market, what he experienced was even worse. After purchasing a beverage from one of the stalls, he was shocked to discover a small roach floating inside his cup.

Fortunately, he noticed the pest before taking a sip of the tea, which he got from The Blend Inc. Turning to social media to vent his frustrations, he alleged that the staff begrudgingly replaced the cup.



Customer finds cockroach pieces in Pepperoni Pizza

After purchasing a large-sized pizza from Pizza Hut, a customer came across what appeared to be remnants of a cockroach within the cheesy dish.

Shocked by the sight, the customer immediately reported it to the outlet along Simon Road in Kovan.

Pizza Hut is currently investigating the incident and is in touch with the customer regarding the situation.

A couple's dessert experience quickly turned awry after they discovered what looks like a needle in a taro ball.

Taking to Complaint Singapore Facebook page on Wednesday (March 27), the diner, who goes by the username Jenn Chen, wrote: "The dessert was good until my hubby found a sharp needle in one of the mini taro balls."

In a close-up image posted of the taro ball, a piece of metal can be seen stuck inside it.


'Sucked in something with a crunch': Woman horrified by cockroach in soy bean drink

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said they take a "serious view towards food safety" and are looking into the matter.

"As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained," the SFA spokesperson said.

They added that food operators must adhere to good food hygiene and preparation practices and ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.


'It's totally disgusting': Diner finds plaster with blood stains in packet of vegetarian bee hoon

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is looking into a case in which a plaster with blood stains was discovered in a packet of vegetarian bee hoon.

A Stomp contributor said his colleague had helped him to purchase the meal from a stall called Ru Yi Yuan Vegetarian at Block 273 Bukit Batok East Avenue 4 on Feb 16, at around 6am.

The Stomp contributor recounted: "While I was eating, I saw something resembling tofu. However, when I took a bite, it was a plaster. When I opened the plaster, there were blood stains on it.


'I called outlet 28 times': Woman finds cockroach in pizza from Little Caesars, gets no response from chain

While enjoying a slice of pizza, a customer suddenly spotted a baby cockroach crawling from under it. 

The angry woman, with the username Pinkcaramelpudding, took to Reddit on Thursday (Dec 14) to share her stomach-churning discovery in her pizza ordered from Little Caesars at Funan mall on Monday. 

"We completely lost our appetite," she wrote, adding that they had already eaten half of the pizza when that creepy-crawly emerged.


I vomited thrice, says diner who found cockroach in half-eaten ramen

While tucking into his bowl of ramen, a man spotted an extra "ingredient" — a dead insect.

The shocked diner, surnamed Lin, told Shin Min Daily News that he was having a meal with his friends at Sanpoutei Ramen at Shaw House on Nov 24 when he made the stomach-churning discovery.

At first, he thought it was a worm. But he took a closer look and realised that it was a dead cockroach.


Woman discovers cockroach in Ichiban Boshi bento only when finishing it

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is looking into an incident where a woman found a cockroach in her bento box meal bought from Ichiban Boshi at Marina Bay Link Mall.

Stomp contributor Sean informed Stomp that his wife had bought the bento box for her lunch on Sept 18 and paid $18.20 for it.

She was about three-quarters through her meal when she found the insect.

When contacted by AsiaOne, Crave Foods said it contacted the customer on Aug 15 to ensure that the customer's well-being is being taken care of and that they "have maintained open communication with the customer to ensure their peace of mind during this process."

They also said they will be refunding the customer. The company said that as a precautionary measure, they have initiated a complete recall of the batch of products in question from all their stores. "We have contacted our supplier to thoroughly investigate the sourcing and handling of the affected food item," they added.

"We have also conducted a thorough assessment of the store's cleanliness standards and engaged a professional pest control services firm to ensure that the stores maintain the highest levels of hygiene standards." It added that their investigation showed that their food safety protocols were diligently followed.


Customer turns green after spotting cockroach in Pepper Lunch meal

While digging into a Pepper Lunch meal, one customer was shocked by the appearance of an extra ingredient — a dead cockroach.

Taking to the Complaint Singapore Facebook page on Saturday (Aug 5), Steven Lee shared that his daughter ordered a Chicken Pepper Rice bowl set meal via Grab.

"After a few bites, she noticed that there was a cockroach in the bowl which seems to be cooked, she felt very traumatised and nauseous," Lee wrote.


Lizard discovered in zi char stall's dish, but SFA finds no food safety lapses

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) found no pest infestation or food safety lapses at a Punggol zi char stall after diners discovered a lizard in the charcoal fish head steamboat from the stall.

Stomp contributor Ng was dining with three others in a coffee shop at Block 322 Sumang Walk on Nov 17 at around 8pm when it happened.

"When we first found the lizard inside the pot while scooping the food, we thought that we saw it wrongly. After reconfirming it's really a lizard, we immediately stopped eating and quickly informed the stall," said the Stomp contributor, who reported the incident to SFA two days later.


KFC apologises for screw-up after customer finds loose screw in breakfast

KFC apologised on Monday (Nov 2) for a screw-up which saw a customer fishing a screw out of her porridge.

An assistant manager had failed to report a faulty pot lid, which led to the incident, the fast-food chain told CNA.

KFC has since taken disciplinary action against the assistant manager as well as two kitchen employees. The former is also under review for her employment.


S'porean woman 'traumatised' after spitting out small centipede from Cup Walker bubble tea drink

One woman in Singapore was shocked to find more than pearls in her bubble tea drink recently.

The woman, who said she prefers to remain anonymous, told Mothership that she had purchased a S$3.30 cup of Caramel Milk Tea from Cup Walker at Sengkang Square on Dec. 16. Cup Walker has a second outlet at Hougang Street 21, and the brand has been around since 1998.

She had taken two sips of her drink when on her third sip, she felt something distinctly un-pearl-like in her mouth. Thinking that it was a strand of hair, she spat it out only to find a small centipede.


Woman grossed out by bug in her economy rice meal from Breadtalk IHQ's Food Republic

A woman was just about to finish the meal she bought from an economy rice stall at Breadtalk IHQ's Food Republic when she found a bug.

Stomper Kirk shared that his wife had ordered her lunch from the stall on Monday (Oct 18) at about 1.30pm.

"When she was left with about a third of the dish, she noticed the insect," he said.


Man prickled to find centipede in economy rice from Pasir Ris stall

A man was left shocked and disgusted after finding a centipede in his lunch.

Stomper Yong said his wife had bought three packets of economy rice from a coffee shop stall at Block 444 Pasir Ris Drive 6 on April 21, at around 1pm.

The three packets were meant for Yong's wife and their two sons.


'Horrifying creature' worms its way into woman's tom yum fish soup

A woman was horrified to discover a worm in her lunch on Wednesday (March 10).

Stomper Rui Xuan said she had ordered tom yum fish soup from Ang Kee F&B via Foodpanda at around 4pm.

She recounted: "My colleague and I were enjoying our lunch. I was happily eating and about to put the tofu into my mouth when to my disbelief, I saw a horrifying creature on it!


Woman finds extra grub in 21-month-old son's porridge

Sometimes, it is not always pleasant to get something "extra" in your meal.

Stomper HJ was shocked to find a caterpillar in fish porridge she had bought for her 21-month-old son for dinner from the Kopitiam at Fernvale Road.

"I was clearing my boy's leftovers," she said. "As I was about to finish, I noticed a caterpillar in the soup.


McDonald's looking into case of "bug" allegedly found in fries from Ang Mo Kio Park outlet

McDonald's is looking into an incident where a "bug" was allegedly found in an order of fries purchased from Ang Mo Kio Park's outlet on Sunday night (Jan 5).

Stomper JY contributed photos of the "bug" and told Stomp: "My husband and I ordered takeaway from the drive-thru at about 10.39pm.

"We had eaten most of the fries already when we discovered the 'special ingredient' at the end.


Irvins Salted Egg responds after woman finds dead lizard in bag of chips

Singapore-based food company Irvins Salted Egg has responded to an incident where a woman found a dead lizard in a packet of salted egg potato chips.

Stomper Alvin told Stomp he had ordered a few packets of Irvins Salted Egg potato chips during the 11.11 sale on Lazada last year.

"It was meant for Chinese New Year so my mum was snacking on them on Feb 13," he said.


Woman bugged to find insect on her plate just as she was about to finish eating at Thai restaurant

A woman was just about to finish her meal at a Thai restaurant -- only to find a dead insect on her plate.

Stomper Lynn said she visited Sanook Kitchen at Suntec City for dinner last Thursday evening (May 13) when the incident occurred.

Lynn recounted: "I ordered kang kong with rice. When I was about to finish my food, I saw an insect on my plate.


SFA to take enforcement action against hawker stall after worm-like bug found in dish

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on Thursday (Oct 3) that it will take enforcement action against a New Upper Changi Road hawker stall after a worm-like bug was found in one of the stall's dishes.

Mr Bhavesh Gumani, an IT specialist, told The Straits Times he was having dinner with his wife at a food stall at the Block 208B New Upper Changi Road hawker centre last Tuesday when he discovered an insect in his basil chicken dish.

Based on a photo of the bug on citizen journalism site Stomp, it had an elongated body and small legs.


Yuck! Woman finds bug in chicken rice bought from Kopitiam Square in Sengkang

Stomper Biggie was shocked to find an unexpected ingredient in her chicken rice this morning (Dec 16).

The Stomper has been a loyal customer of the chicken rice stall at the Kopitiam Square in Sengkang Square for two years already so it came as a huge surprise for her to find this insect in her food.

Said Biggie: "My sister told me she also found a worm in her own packet. "I just threw away my food once I saw the insect.


Nails, worms and insects: Look at the "extra ingredients" students find at SUTD food stall

The students of Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) have found a number of odd ingredients in their food from the economical rice stall in the canteen.

The latest ingredient, an unidentifiable black insect, was found by Stomper Anonymous yesterday (Nov 21). He had ordered from the SUTD canteen's food stall.

Students have been finding these "ingredients" for over a year now, as far as the Stomper knows.

Stomper John shared that he had a date at the Tea Room at Amara Hotel Singapore on Feb 14 at 3pm.

Unfortunately, they spotted a small cockroach on one of the food items included in the high tea set.


Man concerned for pregnant wife after she bites on "plastic" while eating at Yishun coffee shop

A man was concerned for his pregnant wife's health after she bit on something plastic while eating at a coffee shop at Block 848 Yishun Street 81 on Tuesday night (Dec 17).

Stomper James contributed photos of the foreign object and said: "I was with my wife and sister. My sister had just returned to her flat nearby after we had visited a night market nearby.

"My wife and I decided to have a meal at a coffee shop near my sister's flat.


Family served uncooked chicken due to faulty steam oven at Lao Huo Tang restaurant

Faulty kitchen equipment resulted in Stomper Ow and his family being served uncooked chicken at Lao Huo Tang restaurant in Jem shopping mall on Dec 3.

Ow said his family had visited the Chinese restaurant for dinner at about 7.15pm and one of the items they ordered was a mushroom chicken dish that cost $12.

He recounted: "My family member ate the chicken and found that it tasted strange.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and a Bukit Timah restaurant have issued statements in response to feedback from a customer who alleged finding tissue paper in his hotpot.

Stomper M said he visited Three Meals A Day, a Korean restaurant located at 12 Chun Tin Road, for dinner on September 11, at around 6.40pm.

He recounted: "We ordered the Bulnak Jeongol, which consists of hotpot with beef bulgogi, octopus and vegetables.

A diner was left disgusted after he allegedly found a piece of plastic in his hotpot halfway through his meal at Haidilao restaurant.

Stomper Chan said he visited the hotpot chain's 313 @ Somerset outlet for dinner on April 4.

He recounted: "We didn't notice the plastic wrapper in the pot until much later during the meal.


KFC investigating after woman finds 'thick' piece of plastic with price tag in Zinger burger

Fast food restaurant chain KFC is investigating an incident where a customer found a piece of plastic — which had a price tag on it — in her Zinger burger.

Stomper Apr said she made a delivery order from KFC on Saturday (Dec 14), at around 9pm.

The Zinger burger in question was part of a Variety Box.


KFC investigating after diner finds piece of plastic in curry rice bowl

Fast food chain KFC is investigating an incident in which a diner found a piece of plastic in his curry rice bowl.

Stomper Zech said he made a takeaway order from the KFC outlet at Block 139 Tampines Street 11 on Tuesday evening (Mar 10).

Zech told Stomp: "Firstly, I was disappointed that they ran out of chicken tenders despite taking my order and replaced them with chicken nuggets (it is just not the same thing).


McDonald's responds after woman finds 'white mould' on her burger bun

McDonald's has responded to a customer's complaint that she found what she believes to be 'white mould' on a burger she had ordered.

Stomper Wanita told Stomp she had ordered a take-out Big Mac meal at McDonald's Yishun Safra outlet on Tuesday (Feb 18) at about 8.34pm.

She only noticed the 'mould' on the burger bun after she had reached home.


McDonald's reinforces operation procedures after egg shell, paper found in food in separate cases

McDonald's has reinforced its operation procedures following feedback from two Stompers who allegedly found foreign objects in their food from different outlets.

In the first incident, Stomper RF337 said he was eating hotcakes at McDonald's Beauty World outlet on Feb 12 when he discovered a piece of paper in his food.

RF337 recounted: "The manager on duty could not explain why this happened and I left my contact details with her."


Pizza Hut investigating after woman allegedly gets burnt pizza in 'mouldy' box

Restaurant chain Pizza Hut is investigating an incident where a customer received what looked like burnt pizza in a 'mouldy' box on Nov 24.

Stomper Shermaine said her delivery order, which cost $21.50, was supposed to consist of a Double Delight set (one regular pepperoni pizza, four drumlets and two Pepsi drinks) as well as a complimentary large Hawaiian pizza.

She told Stomp: "They sent the wrong flavour for one pizza, though everything else was right. I received another pepperoni pizza instead of a Hawaiian pizza.


Food business ops suspended at Proofer Bakery after SFA finds massive pest infestation

A bakery chain with 16 outlets in shopping malls and elsewhere had its operations suspended until further notice after a massive infestation of cockroaches and rodents was found in its food preparation areas and delivery trucks.

Proofer Bakery was also directed to recall food products from its stores, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Tuesday (Oct 26).

Its retail bakery brand, Proofer Boulangerie, has outlets in places such as AMK Hub and Changi City Point.
