Walk atop a ‘sea of mist’
The deepest south of Thailand is banking on what it hopes will become a new landmark as the “longest skywalk in Southeast Asia”
Images of the nearly completed Ai Yerweng Skywalk in Yala province’s Betong district yesterday showed its 61-meter span stretching out over a forested valley famed for fog-blanketed romance.
Its 61 meters would make the skywalk the longest of its type in Southeast Asia. Its viewing platform appears to reach nearly 100 meters above the ground.
Compared to the host of skywalks erected in recent years from Bangkok’s King Power MahaNakhon building to the northern reaches in Nong Khai province, Yala’s selling point is advertised as a walk to a viewpoint amid a “sea of mist.”
