It’s a hot, hot, period in the region.
Many countries are experiencing blistering temperatures, with occasional breaks in the form of short showers and thunderstorms. India is struggling to cope with one of the deadliest heatwaves to hit the subcontinent, with the southern state of Andhra Pradesh being the worst affected.
In only 10 days, the death toll is estimated to have reached around 2,300 – a 20-year high. Temperatures have reportedly reached as high as 50°C in some parts of the country.
