Oh no, not again - passenger squats in train and pees on floor

A woman was caught on camera squatting in an MRT train with her dress on and apparently urinating on the floor on Friday night. It was the second such case in less than a month.

Sharing photos and a video of Friday's incident, Stomp user Joanne said it happened on a train going from Clementi to Jurong East at 11pm. She recounted: "The lady peed on the train and her friends, who were speaking in a foreign language, stepped away from her as if they didn’t know her."

While the woman's friends might be embarrassed by her behaviour, the lady looked in the photo like she was quite okay with it as the clear liquid trickled from where she was squatting. Was the Stomper sure it was urine? It looked like just water.

According to the news outlet, as the train was travelling between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations, the woman, who appeared to be in her late 20s and seemed intoxicated, was lying down across three seats. She did not have a mask on and was coughing violently.

She then got up and stumbled across three cabins, leaving one of her bags behind. When she reached the third cabin, she went to one of the corner seats, pulled down her shorts and squatted to urinate. A passenger in that cabin immediately stood up and walked away when he saw her doing this. The stream of urine trickled down the cabin floor towards the front of the train.

Spate of Racist Incidents
S'pore's racial harmony not yet on 'knife's edge' despite spate of racist incidents: K Shanmugam

Is Singapore's racial harmony on a "knife's edge", especially after the recent spate of high-profile racist incidents in Singapore? Not yet, according to Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam, who said that claiming so would be "overdramatising" the issue, given that Singapore has made many positive steps towards being a multiracial society over the years.

In a 12-minute interview with CNA938 on Thursday (June 10), Shanmugam said that he was not surprised by the recent racist incidents in Singapore, and that they were "predictable" for those who have been following developments around the world. He did not elaborate on those developments, but said that the recent incidents here were due to "external developments", as well as "some things that have been happening within Singapore".

When asked whether members of the public should always call out racism, he agreed, but added that it is important to do so "sensibly".

Why S'poreans Are Angry At Foreign Talents Who Thinks They Are Better Than Us

The weekend spat between a foreign national and a security guard, where the foreign national got incensed as he his condo guest had to pay a parking fee for visiting him late at night, has again brought the spotlight upon the supposed class divide between the foreign talents who are brought here on monstrous salaries, while average Singaporeans struggle to find jobs.

While the security guard was rightly just dispensing his duty, that particular quarrel is for the army of netizens to comment on, while J P Morgan, the employer of the said foreign national, will have a PR nightmare to contend with once the Deepavali holiday season has worn off. But what has riled Singaporeans is the fact that this person, like many before him, and many more after him, seem to get all the cushy and high paying job, and see no wrong to look down of Singaporeans who have university qualifications in Singapore's world class universities, but can only dream of getting such high paying jobs in their own country.

Singaporeans are told by our own government, foreign nationals and even fellow citizens who are sympathizers or just IBs not to 'overgeneralize' whenever instances of bad behavior exhibited by foreigners make headlines. And yet, time and again, incidents like these keep happening, where we see yet another foreign talent looking down on a fellow Singaporeans. We already have to deal with the bad behavior of some of our fellow citizens, so why is there a need for an influx of foreigners to add to the stress?
