Spate of 'Peeing & Pooing' in Public

Update 19 Sep 2024: 'Don't do this in public': Man fined for defecating at Marina Bay Sands entrance
The man was inebriated and could not find a toilet

A man who was caught in a viral video defecating at the entrance of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) was fined S$400 (US$308) by a court on Thursday (Sep 19). When the construction worker asked the judge for a lower fine, the judge asked him: "Do you know how to get a low fine? Don't do this in public."

Indian national Ramu Chinnarasa, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of defecating in a public place under the Environmental Public Health (Public Cleansing) Regulations. The court heard that Ramu, who was in Singapore on a work permit, drank three bottles of hard liquor on Oct 29 last year. Heavily intoxicated, he entered the casino at MBS in the wee hours of the next day to gamble.

He left the casino at about 5.20am on Oct 30, 2023. Still intoxicated, Ramu felt the urge to relieve himself but could not locate a toilet in his drunken state. At 7.01am at the entrance of The Shoppes at MBS, next to a restaurant, Ramu took off his pants, squatted and defecated on the floor.

Public urination by child in Bugis MRT station and man in Geylang carpark

Two people were caught on camera peeing in a public place in separate incidents. The first incident took place on Aug 6 afternoon. Stomp contributor Norman shared a video of a little girl who had apparently just gone No.1 under an escalator on the Bugis MRT station platform for the East-West Line and was returning to her mother waiting nearby.

"This behaviour is both unsanitary and disruptive to other commuters," said Norman. "I have witnessed individuals urinating on the platform, ignoring the discomfort and safety concerns it creates for others. This situation poses serious hygiene risks and affects the reputation of the MRT service." Since it was a child, the behaviour may be forgivable, but the next incident involved an adult. It happened at the Geylang Lorong 9 carpark on Sept 15.

Stomp contributor Keat shared a video of a grown man in T-shirt and jeans who stood on the grass facing the wall of a building and looking down. It was in broad daylight. "So brave to wee in a big open area where people are walking by," said Keat. "He thinks Singapore is a kampong." Kampong or not, public urination is an offence under the Environmental Public Health Act. The penalty is a fine of up to $1,000 for a first offence, and up to $2,000 and $5,000 for the second and third offence respectively.

Spate of Indecent Behaviours

Enraged by a man she claims made a lewd and obscene remark to her in public, a Singaporean woman took to social media to shame the alleged offender. The woman, whose TikTok handle is n00tison, posted a video on March 2 where she reveals that a man catcalled her from inside his car while she was in Yio Chu Kang on the way to the gym.

She claims the man made kissy noises at her before saying: “I really like your tights man, I wanna lick your p***y.” “This man, this person, decided that he (wanted) to be an idiot today,” she said, pointing to a clear picture of a man inside his vehicle. She added that she plans to make a police report.

According to her, the man appeared shocked when she responded with “what the f**k did you just say?” He then corrected himself and said he merely thought she was beautiful, before driving off. His shocked response could mean that no one had stood up to him before, she said.
