Toast to Earth Day with organic champagne
22 April marks Earth Day, an annual event to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
Hot on the heels of protests that happened at the start of April 2022 – with more than 1000 scientists from 25 different countries staging protests following the release of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s new report – it seems more apt than ever that we talk about protecting the Earth. In a nutshell, the report warned that rapid and deep cuts to greenhouse gas emissions are necessary by 2025 to avoid catastrophic climate effects.
It's starting to feel a bit like the film Don't Look Up, a disaster and satiric movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. A bunch of scientists warning humanity about something that will affect their lives, but meh, we're too distracted (or powerless) to take the warnings seriously.
